Ben Dickey
Little Rock, Arkansas native Ben Dickey has been turning heads toward the silver screen with his acting debut portraying Blaze Foley, a singer-songwriter in the 1970’s and ’80s, in the Ethan Hawke-directed biopic film BLAZE. A seasoned musician in his own right, Dickey’s affecting performance as the troubled troubadour gracefully showcases his natural talent, both in acting and in music. However, Dickey had to put his own career as a singer-songwriter on hold while making the film.

What resulted from the experience on the film was a flood of songs that became Dickey’s next chapter: an album of left-of-center, sophisticated folk songs, A Glimmer On The Outskirts, produced by renowned musician Charlie Sexton (band leader for Bob Dylan) and released as the debut album of SexHawkeBlack Records, an imprint label of Dualtone started by Charlie Sexton, Ethan Hawke, and SXSW founder Louis Black.

Ben Dickey Goes on an Adventure in ‘Sing That one to Me’ Video: Premier - Billboard

"The album is meticulously arranged, with spacious rock and folk arrangements that center Dickey’s honeyed vocals." - Rolling Stone

“Dickey can sound like Bob Dylan at his funniest and funkiest, as engaged with the rhythm of the words as the roll of the music.“ - Rolling Stone

"It's a mesmerizing collection of tracks, earnest and beatific, and worthy of getting lost in more than once, with vivid turns of phrase like "the Great Rearranger drippin' all his venom into our eyes."" - The Arkansas Times

"Hands down the highlight of my SXSW 2019." - Alan Galbraith, Spotify

"To see Ben Dickey playing his songs inches away from where we were sitting was spine-tingling. Intimate, warm and with a dry wit, he teased songs from his new album as well as repertoire from the Blaze soundtrack (and was that a snippet of The Beatles mixed into a song?) It was a privilege to see an artist work so effortlessly in such close proximity and his band played and sounded and felt like they were wrapping us in a warm blanket. Feel lucky to have been there." - Mark Gordon, Founder/Composer Score Draw Music

"Ben is a gentle creature with understated star quality, his songs and his voice made my face beam, and my heart ache." - Peter Bradbury, Head of Music/Sky UK Ltd.
